Twisted Knickerz Equity Co-op* presents:
***the CANADIAN PREMIERE***
of Christopher Durang’s new dark comedy:

JUNE 2 – 5 & 9 – 13, 2010 at 8 pm with an added matinee on the 13th at 2 pm
Performing Arts Lodge (PAL) Theatre, 581 Cardero Street @ Georgia
Fresh from Broadway, this dark comedy set against the backdrop of America’s homeland “insecurity” holds a gun to the head of American politics – from freedom fries to the feelings of fetuses, nothing is sacred. A young woman wakes up to discover she drunkenly married Zamir. Is he insane? A terrorist? Why does it smell like burning butterflies? Could her father be involved in a secret shadow government? Why is her mother obsessed with theatre? And why is she suddenly hearing voices? Durang piles the absurdities of family life, torture, and the war on terror into a bomb and detonates. The fallout is something like sanity.
Christopher Durang, one of America’s most deliciously absurd and cheeky comedic playwrights who brought us “Beyond Therapy,” “Baby with the Bathwater” and “Idiots Karamazov” comes back full force with ‘TORTURE’ and doesn’t hold anything back!
Directed by Chris McGregor (Falling Up Stairs, Idiots Karamazov), the talented cast includes Brian Anderson Brian Coffey, Beth Garner, Stefano Giulianetti, Aslam Husain, Elizabeth McLaughlin and June B. Wilde.
